Rathaus

As early as 1368 there was a half-timbered house on the site of today's town hall, which was partly used as a town hall from 1382. However, it was mainly a granary, which was replaced in 1474 by a simple stone building. This was then rebuilt several times, including when the imperial and monastery towns were combined and the town was given a joint administrative board. The Lord Mayor and the mayors are still based in this historic building on the Rathausplatz in Kempten. The rest of the city administration is spread over several buildings within the city center.
